Dr. Laura Reardon

Psychologist

About Me

My professional life as a psychologist has slowly built over time. After completing my bachelor’s degree in education and romance languages at Princeton University, I worked as a middle and high school Spanish teacher for 5 years. I then pursued a Master’s degree in school psychology at the University of Hartford. After working as a school psychologist for two years in Connecticut, I decided to pursue my doctorate and completed a PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. I then commissioned with the Air Force, completed my residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX, and served 5 years as an active-duty Air Force psychologist at Eglin AFB, Fort Walton Beach, FL.

After getting out of the military, I continued to work as a psychologist in a wide variety of contexts and environments. I have over 15 years of experience and am board certified in clinical psychology. I have practiced in 5 states and have worked in a variety of settings, to include outpatient clinics, primary care clinics, military installations, and a correctional facility. I am trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and general Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also enjoy psychological assessments, to include ADHD evaluations, autism evaluations, and psychological evaluations for bariatric surgery patients and other patients undergoing medical procedures.

About My Care

When I picture my ideal client, I think of you. You might feel stuck, anxious, unhappy, numb, or disconnected. Maybe you feel scared or ashamed of something that has happened to you or something you’ve never discussed with anyone. Perhaps you have thought about therapy before, or someone recommended it, but you never pursued it. But now, you show up and that is the first step. You are beginning to be honest with and trust yourself, me, and this process. You want to feel better, more connected, and begin to live your life again. I have good news: With a little courage, a willingness to try new things, and a little support, you can!

I approach the first session with an open, nonjudgmental ear and heart. My goal is to help you feel heard and understood. I have a wide range of experience across many contexts. I’ve learned all humans struggle with various forms of suffering and trauma, and I have a wide range of tools I can use to help you through them.

I know how easy it is to feel alone with your problems and how hard it is to ask for help. I challenge you to show up and see what happens. You just might feel relieved to have found a confidential space to share your burdens with someone. Please don’t hesitate to reach out for consultation and to have any concerns addressed before starting treatment.
